The BA Clubs golf section sprung back into action during March as the golf season takes off again. Our first Day Meeting of the year was played over Test Valley GC, near Basingstoke. This was the first time our members had played this course. The weather was fair but still cold so the course remained in winter condition. We teed off from mats but putted on firm, main greens. The winner was Steve Blackwell with 38 points (h/c 35) and the runner up was Jeff Brister with 37 points (h/c 13). Steve is now the proud holder of our Ian Foster Trophy which was presented to him by our Vice Captain Roger Woof. We all enjoyed a lovely English breakfast before the golf and delicious evening meal after the round.

 

The club has many development plans for the future and a lot of work was also going on around the venue.

 

We also held our first Roll Up of the season at Richings Park GC near Heathrow. The winner was Bruce Miles with 39 points (h/c 20) and runner up Lincoln Dowe on 38 points (h/c 23). We play 8 medals throughout the season from March until October. Points are awarded for the best scratch and handicap rounds. Two trophies are awarded to the golfers with the highest points at the end of October, based on the best 6 rounds. It usually gets very competitive come the Autumn!
